January 31st Meeting

Sunrise Rotarians welcomed visiting Marseilles Rotarian Kent Terry to the meeting and the speaker, LaSalle Rotarian Mike Kirchhoff.  President Kyle Dooley thanked Mike Hughes for arranging the annual dinner at Monte’s and Julie Fisher for providing the dessert.  Members enjoyed a fun white elephant gift exchange.  Dooley noted that Fisher will attend her first training session soon to prepare for being the next Sunrise Rotary Club president.  Foundation Chair Nancy Leemhuis awarded the Paul Harris + 3 pin to Gene Anderson recognizing his $4000 contribution to the Rotary Foundation.  Sergeants at Arms Keith and Jane Goetz quizzed members on Super Bowl Trivia and Academy Awards movies.  Mary Brolley held the weekly winning ticket.


Tom Ganiere introduced Mike Kirchhoff, President and CEO of North Central Illinois Economic Development, as the guest speaker.  Kirchhoff summarized his background and explained the mission of NCI.  The strategic goals include business development in the region to increase the tax base, diversify the economy, and provide quality employment opportunities.  NCI also works to foster job-creating growth, expansion of existing businesses, and providing educational opportunities and workforce training for all ages.


The next Sunrise Rotary meeting is Friday, February 7 at 7:15 a.m. in the conference room of OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center.1580490566358blob
